Our marketing message is that BizeeBee Billing takes the pain out of getting paid. While that is fantastic it doesn't tell you the whole story.
For months our engineers have been working alongside the Balanced Payments team to develop a product simple enough for any small business to start using right out of the gate. We also we able to achieve the goal of launching a virtual payment terminal that didn't require hardware, or contracts. But, that's not all. BizeeBee billing allows businesses to get paid quickly, on time and it removes hassles of dealing with bounced checks.
I want to introduce you to one of our BizeeBee engineers as well as our technical co-founder Alex Notov. He responded to a set of questions many of you have asked me.
Why did BizeeBee create billing? While working on BizeeBee Membership Management, we had realized that many of our customers needed to record payments. Many membership based businesses wanted to take payments in the store and accept payments online via our online store. Even more importantly, we knew that there was no simple integrated solution that allowed customers to take payments and see the transaction stream. There were a lot of cumbersome integrations with merchant accounts, PayPal, and other payment processors. None of these really allowed our customers to see their transaction stream and reconcile it with their membership, event, and attendance data. We also realized that we wanted to build a simple billing product, that served that specific purpose and would not clutter up the existing membership management application. Finally, we ourselves needed to bill our customers for their usage. All this came to a head and we decided to build a solution that would allow our membership based businesses to charge their members by accepting credit cards online easily and without any unnecessary barriers and getting the payment data. Of course, this also allowed us to eat our own dog food by billing our own customers using the same solution!
I came up with the concept for BizeeBee Billing. Since then, David Grieser and I have architected the application and wrote the code for it from the ground up. This involved making all the major decisions for what vendors we would use for payment processing, how certain ux components would work, and how we would get data between BizeeBee Billing and the BizeeBee Membership Management app.
Balanced Payments is our chosen payment processing vendor. They enable us to give our membership based businesses the ability to take payments from their customers and handle all the security hurdles of dealing with payments, while we focus on how those payments are processed from the customer's perspective.
When you are using BizeeBee Billing, you do all your work over an SSL/HTTPS connection with RC4 128 bit encryption. While any encryption and security mechanisms have their holes, you may rest assured that this is the same encryption algorithm that is used by many of the major banks when you use online banking. Furthermore, our payment processing vendor Balanced Payments, never stores any of your customers' credit cards. Instead they use a process called tokenization. This ensures that even if they are hacked, the hacker would not be able to retrieve your customers' actual credit card numbers. Balanced Payments is PCI compliant. Finally, we run backups on a regular basis for the unlikely event of total data loss, so that we could recover your data.
I am super happy to be able to give our customers the ability to take payments online and at their place of business. Most importantly, however, I am happy that we are offering a very simple solution that does not and will not have the bloat of existing traditional payment processors. Finally, I am very excited that our customers will be able to see their transaction data all in one place.
